Tell me more about herbal enhancement. Am I going to taste things like turmeric or chicory in my wine… that seems gross.

 

Don’t worry, you won’t taste the herbs, just a really great glass of wine. We have invested months of tasting and testing with the best winemakers in California to create a wine that simply tastes like a high quality table wine. These herbs are powerful, therefore we don’t need to use a lot of them to be effective. It will not affect the flavor of the wine.

 

Will there be sediment?

 

Nope! All of the herbs are in liquid form and have been naturally infused and blended with the wine over time.

 

How is this wine healthier than others?

 

Our wine is sustainably-farmed, minimally processed, and enhanced with herbs that contain proven health benefits. We believe wine should be simple; a beverage that helps create memories with your friends and your meal. We took it one step further because we want you to feel great the next morning, without hangovers or dietary regrets.

 

After a bottle of wine is opened how long will it keep? Not opened, how long will it be good for?

 

We created SmartVineWine without a ton of preservatives or sulfites, so once a bottle is open, it is best to consume within 48 hours. (Red in pantry temperature and white in the fridge)

 

You can easily buy small bottles of gas that help preserve the wine for longer time. They are inexpensive and last a long time!

It is best to consider most sustainable and higher end wines, a living product that is sensitive to heat. High heat can actually change or “bake” the flavor of a wine. In order to maintain quality When the bottle is still unopened- so - ideally it should be stored in a temperature of 55-65 degrees.

 

Is this a new idea? Why hasn’t anyone done this before?

 

Wine enhanced with herbs has been around for tens of thousands of years. The concept of wine used for medicinal methods is a part of our human history. Over time, our pallets have changed and high alcohol beverages like gin or vodka became the carrier for the medicinal herbs. Wine evolved into a more refined beverage (think white bread vs whole wheat bread). The one area of the wine world that continued the idea of herbs blended with a wine base is vermouth. We applied ancient herbal wine traditions with modern winemaking. We felt it was time to borrow from the past, eliminate 21st century toxins, and create something truly delicious, elevated, and better for your body and planet.

 

Is this a low-calorie wine?

 

No, but the nutritional value is far greater. There are less empty calories. Think about ingesting 100 calories of almonds versus a 100 calorie cookie. Which will fuel you better? Cutting calories is not about health. If you drink wines claiming to be “skinnier” you are getting less alcohol and more sugar.

 

Do I have to run a marathon to “earn” my glass of wine?

 

Not anymore, our wine was made with the combination of driven & talented nutritionist and sustainably focused winemakers to make a wine that allows you to enjoy a glass of wine and not lose your healthy focus! Imagine a wine that you can unwind without undoing all your hard work to stay fit, healthy and on your weight plan.

 

Is this a natural wine?

 

Yes, we are making wine in the purest form possible. We source every grape from chemical-free vineyards. They are handpicked, sorted, and treated with care and heart throughout the entire process. Our winemaking partners do not add any non-natural ingredients during the winemaking process which yields a wine that is pure and sustainable for you (and the planet!).

 

Why should I care?

 

We believe that you can have your wine and your health too. There’s no need to sacrifice taste, how you feel the morning after, or your workout routine.

 

Aren’t all “natural wines” the same?

 

All natural wines are NOT the same. It depends on how the grapes are grown and how the wine is created. Wine can be made from “organic” grapes or have a sustainable background, but the REAL issue boils down to WHAT is happening in the cellar. Winemakers and wineries do not have to disclose all the chemicals that they use to filter and finalize the wine. We will never use ingredients like Velcorin, and encourage you to learn more about this ingredient.

 

Is SmartVine vegan?

 

Yes, we are certified vegan. 🙂

 

But wait, isn’t all wine vegan?

 

Actually, no. We choose to only use natural products to filter our wine, such a diatomaceous earth. This keeps the wine clean and vegan. Other companies cellar practices for filtration can use animal-derived fining agents. This includes bone marrow, casein (milk protein), chitin (fiber from crustacean shells), egg albumen (derived from egg whites), fish oil, gelatin (protein from boiling animal parts), and isinglass (gelatin from fish bladder membranes). We don’t do that.

 

If a wine says it’s organic, doesn’t that mean it’s chemical-free?

 

No. When we started this project, we focused on certified organic vineyards and biodynamic vineyards to source our wines. Unfortunately, we found out that after evaluating the levels of Glyphosate (a.k.a. the weed killer Roundup), it could potentially still be in the grapes. Although these vineyards were not actively using Glyphosate, they still had amounts of the chemical in the wine above the approved levels of consumption. Put simply, this shocked us. We began our mission to find the PUREST grapes, making it our goal to find wine that did not contains traces of Glyphosate.
